Bali Gridlocked : When Tourism Becomes a Burden on the Roads
This is a Response to the Pariwisata Berkelanjutan wikithon
Bali is now heavily congested, especially in tourist areas like Canggu, Ubud, and Kuta. The roads are narrow, yet the number of vehicles keeps increasing—tourists, online taxis, and rental cars fill the streets. According to reports from the Department of Transportation, the number of vehicles in Bali has risen significantly over the years, yet road infrastructure has not been improved accordingly. Some argue that tourism does not cause major issues, but if traffic jams continue, will visitors still want to come to Bali? The solution is to establish a more efficient public transportation system, limit rental vehicles, and create special lanes for local residents. The government, tourists, and the community must work together to prevent further deterioration. If left unchecked, Bali’s charm will fade. Change doesn’t wait—let’s start with ourselves!.
