Detoxified Overtourism
This is a Response to the Pariwisata Berkelanjutan wikithon
Overtourism in Bali can be "detoxified" with a sustainable approach that balances tourism and environmental and cultural sustainability. First, the government and industry players need to encourage quality tourism by limiting the number of tourists in crowded destinations and implementing tourist taxes for conservation. Second, destination diversification is needed so that tourists are not only concentrated in popular areas such as Canggu, Ubud, Dalung or Kuta, but also to other lesser-touched areas. Third, tourist education about visiting ethics, waste, and local culture must be strengthened. Fourth, infrastructure management must be better, including accommodation regulations such as Airbnb so as not to damage social balance. With these steps, Bali can remain a leading tourist destination without sacrificing the environment and local wisdom.
