Detoxifying Overtourism in Bali: Preserving the Island of Gods
This is a Response to the Pariwisata Berkelanjutan wikithon
Bali, as a tourism island, has long been an attraction for travelers from around the world. However, overtourism has caused serious problems that threaten the environment, culture, and the livelihoods of local communities. Detoxifying the negative impacts of overtourism requires sustainable strategies to maintain Bali’s balance.
One effective approach is limiting the number of tourists through strict regulations and fair tourist levies. This supports quality tourism rather than quantity. Additionally, community-based tourism should be developed to ensure that local people become the main actors in the tourism industry.
To preserve Balinese culture, spiritual tourism and ecotourism can be key solutions. Tourists should be aware of and respect Bali’s customs and traditions. Meanwhile, the government must enforce regulations and implement policies that support local businesses and sustainable products.
In the effort to detoxify overtourism, synergy between the government, communities, and tourists is the key to ensuring that Bali remains sustainable and continues to be a harmonious tourism paradise.- Category
