Healing Bali from a Poison Called "OVERTOURISM"
This is a Response to the Pariwisata Berkelanjutan wikithon
The existence of tourism in Bali has long been one of the biggest sources of livelihood for Balinese people. However, the increasing time of tourism in Bali seems to be a threat like a poison that can have a negative impact on the survival of nature, culture and Balinese society. This phenomenon is often connoted by the term overtourism.
Overtourism is a phenomenon where a tourist destination experiences an excessive increase in the number of tourists, thus exceeding its capacity to accommodate and manage visitors sustainably, which has a negative impact on the environment, local culture, and the quality of life of the population. Overtourism can cause several negative impacts, including the first is the disruption of security and order, the second is traffic jams, the third is the massive transfer of land functions and the fourth is the erosion of Balinese cultural values by external influences.
To respond and anticipate the negative impact of this overtourism. Some ways that can be taken are: 1. Educating as well as strengthening regulations or rules that must be followed while in Bali through a tour guide (tour guide) 2. Strengthen and develop government regulations and awig-awig or pararem from the pakraman village regarding security stability in their area. 3. Tighten security especially in areas that are classified as many foreign tourists for example in Kuta and Ubud. 4. Controlling land function transfer activities so that they can be properly controlled. 5. Developing and maximizing public transportation in order to reduce the possibility of traffic jams 6. Instilling cultural education from an early age through weekly pesraman activities.
There are some ways that can be done to deal with the problem of overtourism, hopefully these suggested methods can be used so that Bali can be even better in the future and we hope that Bali can soon be freed from this poison of overtourism.
