SANTHI: Systematic Access for Nurturing Tourism & Harmony Integration
This is a Response to the Pariwisata Berkelanjutan wikithon
Bali is an island with internationally renowned tourist destinations, attracting millions of visitors every year. According to data from the Bali Provincial Statistics Center, 503,194 international tourists visited Bali in April 2024 alone. However, the uncontrolled surge in visitors has triggered serious challenges, such as traffic congestion, environmental degradation, and cultural strain on local communities. If left unchecked, these negative impacts could erode Bali’s charm as a world-class destination and threaten the long-term sustainability of its tourism industry. In my opinion, "Smart Bali Access" is an innovative and effective solution to combat overtourism through a digital gateway based on sustainability scores. This system ensures that only responsible travelers can access popular destinations. By analyzing travel history, accommodation choices, and spending patterns, tourists with sustainable behaviors receive higher scores and greater access. Smart Bali Access promotes responsible tourism, allowing Bali to grow without sacrificing its natural beauty and cultural heritage.
