Transportation in Bali: Managing Mobility Amidst a Tourism Boom
This is a Response to the Pariwisata Berkelanjutan wikithon
Traffic congestion in Bali is getting worse due to overtourism, especially in tourist areas such as Ubud. The surge in the number of tourists renting private vehicles, coupled with limited road infrastructure, makes travel slow and inefficient. In addition to hampering the mobility of local residents, congestion also increases air pollution and fuel consumption. To overcome this problem, Bali needs to develop better public transportation, such as buses, so that tourists do not have to rely on private vehicles. In addition, there needs to be strict rules that require foreign tourists to have a valid driver's license before renting and riding a motorbike, to prevent traffic violations and reduce the risk of accidents. Improvement of pedestrian and bicycle paths is also needed so that tourists have a more environmentally friendly mobility alternative. With this, Bali can reduce congestion without reducing its appeal as a leading tourist destination in the world.
