Held every six months of Balinese 30-week calendar, Tumpek Wariga is the Balinese thanksgiving day to plants, herbs and trees. Since human beings depend on plants, the Balinese celebrate Tumpek Wariga to express their gratitude. They put some offerings in the rice fields, put a pinch of rice flour poridge (called bubuh) upon a tree's branch. That is why this celebration is also caled Tumpek Bubuh (Poridge Tumpek) and Tumpek Pengatag (Tree-marking Tumpek). Then the Balinese talk to the plants with affection so that they bear many nice fruits for the next Galungan day.
