The ‘ngejot banten kumara’ ceremony is carried out in several areas in Bali, such as in Sibetan (Karangasem), Kawan (Bangli), and Bangbang (Bangli). In general, this ceremony is an offering to Sang Hyang Kumara, the guardian god of children in Balinese belief. So, this ceremony is strongly associated with children who have not yet reached the age of three months. This ceremony is similar to Thanksgiving. In this ceremony, people give gifts of food, fruit and cakes to parents who have just had a baby. These food gifts are packaged in Balinese style and are called 'jotan'. The process of the ceremony is called 'ngejot'.

This ceremony is usually performed by parents who have children under three months. There are two parties involved in this ceremony, namely the party who gives the jotan and the one who receives the jotan. Those who give the jotan are neighbors, while those who receive the jotan are those who have just had a newborn. This ceremony is held in the afternoon on the day of Panampahan Galungan (see entry: Galungan), and must stop at dusk.

The next day, the family with the baby perform the ‘natab banten kumara’ ceremony at their respective merajan (family temple). If there are residents who do not have time to come with their jotan on the day of Penampahan Galungan, they will come in the morning or at noon of Galungan day (next day after Penampahan day).

The ‘ngejot banten kumara’ ceremony is held so that newborns can get to know their relatives and the surrounding environment. Usually, at the time of the ceremony those who come are close relatives, neighbors or big family members. Therefore, the newborn is expected to learn to get to know their closest family and relatives and learn to share with each other.

Upacara ngejot banten kumara puniki matetujon mangda anak alit sane durung mayusa tigang sasih uning antuk kulawarga tur wewidangan sane nampek ring genahnyane. Biasane, sane rauh inggih punika kulawarga nampek, banjaran, utawi kulawarga ageng. Antuk punika, anak alit sane wawu embas kaaptiang mangda uning pasametonan tur malajah saling asah, asih tur asuh.

Upacara ngejot banten kumara dilakukan di beberapa daerah di Bali, seperti di Sibetan (Karangasem), Kawan (Bangli), dan Bangbang (Bangli). Secara umum, upacara ini adalah sebuah persembahan kepada Sang Hyang Kumara, dewa penjaga anak dalam kepercayaan Bali. Jadi, upacara ini sangat terkait dengan anak-anak yang belum mencapai usia tiga bulan. Upacara ini mirip seperti Thanksgiving. Dalam upacara ini, orang-orang memberikan hadiah makanan, buah-buahan dan kue-kue kepada orang tua yang baru mempunyai bayi. Hadiah makanan ini dikemas dengan gaya Bali dan disebut ‘jotan’. Proses upacaranya disebut ‘ngejot’.

Upacara ngejot banten kumara bertujuan agar bayi yang belum berusia tiga bulan bisa mengenal sanak keluarga dan lingkungan sekitar. Biasanya, pada saat upacara itu yang datang adalah kerabat dekat, tetangga atau keluarga besar. Dengan demikian, bayi yang baru lahir itu diharapkan akan belajar mengenal keluarga dan kerabat terdekat dan belajar saling berbagi.
