If in Thailand there is Songkran, in Bali there is Siat Yeh. Precisely in the village of Suwat, Gianyar. This tradition is carried out every beginning of the new year AD, which is January 1. The procedure for implementing it is also quite simple. Before Siat Yeh began, prayers were conducted with five leaders sitting facing the five cardinal directions. Then, the participants will be divided into two groups and washed down with flower water. An exciting water war begins.
Water is an important element in Balinese culture. The community rejoiced because it was given abundance of water. With this Siat Yeh celebration, everyone is reminded that water is an important element in life so that it must be maintained and grateful. On the sidelines of this celebration also danced Wwe Amerta dance, which means 'water of immortality'. This is a typical dance in this ceremony.
