Balian Sadya paling tua di desanya, namun ia licik. Pada suatu hari, I Tantra panak Balian Sandi diceramahi oleh pamangku Pura Dalem. Pemangku itu berkata bahwa ia menemukan peti berisi lontar yang sudah tua. Lontar itu dikeluarkan di hadapan warga desa. Namun satu pun tidak ada yang bisa menerjemahkan isi dari lontar tersebut. Bahasa yang digunakan pada pustaka lontar tersebut sangat kuna, mungkin seperti yang tersurat di Raja Puranane. Balian Sadya, balian yang katanya pintar saat itu juga ada di sana, namun juga tidak bisa menerjemahkan sepatah kata pun, begitu banyaknya orang yang ada di sana tidak ada yang bisa menerjemahkan. Kemudian datang I Tantra dan ayahnya, I Balian Sandi. I Balian Sandi melihat pustaka lontar itu, namun mengangguk saat membaca. Kemudian ayahnya mengambil peralatan dan mereka berdua berjalan ke tepi sungai, di sanalah kemudian I Tantra ditebas oleh ayahnya, namun penggalan I Tantra jatuh ke sungai, di situ I Balian Sandi merasa takut, dan sembari melihat penggalan kepala I Tantra yang jatuh jauh di sungai. Karena terlalu lama tidak ditemukan penggalan kepala I Tantra, kemudian Balian Sandi menebas anjingnya, penggalan kepala anjingnya dipasangakan pada tubuhnya I Tantra, dan dimantrai. Setelah I Tantra menyatu dengan penggalan kepala anjingnya dan menjadi babaung kemudian berlari ke tengah hutan, di sanalah Balian Sandi menyesal. Penggalan kepala I Tantra yang terjatuh ke sungai, dimakan oleh ikan gabus, baru dimakan penggalan kepala I Tantra, kemudian menempel di kepala ikan gabus dan tidak bisa dilepaskan. Begitulah terjadinya babaung yang bertubuh manusia berkepala anjing, dan be jagul yang bertubuh ikan gabus berkepala manusia.
